North Queensland (Townsville and Cairns)

North Queensland is also the headquarters of James Cook University (JCU) in Townsville, with an expanding satellite campus in Cairns. JCU is the second oldest university in Queensland and recognised in the top 4% of universities worldwide, with specialty research in areas such as marine sciences, biodiversity, tropical ecology and environments, climate change, tourism, agriculture and tropical medicine. JCU also home to the Australian Institute of Tropical Health and Medicine.
