Toowoomba offers easy access to Brisbane and the Gold and Sunshine Coasts. The recent opening of the Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport is the first major greenfield public airport development in Australia since Melbourne Airport opened in 1970, which provides direct links to Asia.
Toowoomba also has the added benefit of having the headquarters of the University of Southern Queensland which is recognised for its research in agriculture, engineering, climate science, regional development, digital literacy and education.
There is a definite culture in the Toowoomba community of people wanting to support startup businesses, a spirit of entrepreneurship is evident in the region, particularly when it comes to the long term. Young people locally are ‘willing to give it a go’ and are well supported by a proactive Chamber of Commerce and the Toowoomba Surat Basin Enterprise organisation.
